Stephanie M. Sanchez received her PhD from the Department of Anthropology at the University of New Mexico where she wrote her dissertation, Women and Cultural Production: Fiestas, Families, and Foodways in San Rafael, New Mexico. In it, she examined intergenerational cultural transmission, retention, and change through the lenses of feminist community organizing and performance theory. Sanchez is currently the Associate Director for the Center for Academic Program Support (CAPS) at the UNM Center for Teaching and Learning. Her professional research interests include culturally relevant pedagogies and the ways in which culture, capital, and mentorship impact student success outcomes. Within Chicana/o Studies, Sanchez is an online instructor for the Managed Online Program, teaching CCS 370 Chicana/o Cultural Studies and CCS 480/580 New Approaches in Chicana/o Studies.
