Bio

Christy is a first-gen college student. Before undergraduate studies, she spent 15 years as a stay-at-home mom. During the 2020 pandemic when she began teaching her children US History and discovered an interest in Chicana/o/x Studies. This experience led her to return to the university and acquire her B.A. in Chicana/o Studies from the University of New Mexico. She currently serves as the project assistant for the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship and is working toward her Ph.D. in Chicana/o Studies. Her research interests include Chicana and Latina participation in American Evangelicalism as well as studying Latinx representations in US film.
