Bio

She/Her

Julia Reade currently teaches at Nova High School, a public alternative school with a focus in social justice, in Seattle, Washington. A National Board Certified Teacher, she has worked in Seattle Schools as a Special Education Teacher for 14 years, and holds endorsements in Ethnic Studies, Secondary ELA, Special Education, and Health and Fitness. Julia holds a BA in English and Philosophy, a Master’s in Teaching from the University of Washington, and a graduate certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies. She is currently working towards a MA in Chicana/o/x Studies at the University of New Mexico, a MA in English Literature and DA in English Pedagogy at Murray State University, and Graduate Certificates in Africa and African Diaspora Studies and Native American Studies. Her areas of research and publication include critical pedagogies, literary criticism, ethnic studies, and gender studies.
