Rebecca Martinez-Baca is the Operations Specialist in the Department of Chicana & Chicano Studies at the University of New Mexico. Here she works on various programs that include the following:
- CCS Graduate Program
- ISEE College! Dual Enrollment Program
- Department Scheduler of CCS and CCST Courses
- Dept. Purchases
Rebecca was born and raised in New Mexico, specifically she grew up in Los Lunas, NM and now resides in Belén, NM. Rebecca considers Valencia County and Bernalillo County as her home, as she grew in both area with various trips multiple times a week in Albuquerque due to growing up in village/small town. Rebecca focuses on culture, heritage and art in New Mexico and how it impacts our communities. As Rebecca has worked with Chicana & Chicano Studies, she is able to help in aiding in the education and outreach of CCS to increase awareness of Chicana/x/o and Latina/x/e/o studies in New Mexico.
Rebecca received her Associate’s Degree in Digital Media Arts with a focus in Photography from the University of New Mexico Valencia Campus, she also acquired her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts with a focus in Art Education at the University of New Mexico, from her she continued her journey with UNM and during covid she graduated with her Master’s Degree in Art Education and Graduate Certificate with Chicana & Chicano Studies. She is now working on her Doctoral Degree in Chicana & Chicano Studies that is focused on Art Archives and Curatorial work.
